Tradition and maturity are two words that unite the Trakehner Association with good whisky. After all, the breeders and riders of Trakehner horses look back on an almost 300-year long eventful history of the horse breed. With this in mind, the breeding association launched ist own Trakehner Whisky edition in 2021. At the end of 2022, the agency Ulrike von Borstel Networks and the watch experts from Waidzeit took the occasion of this whisky bottling to design a matching promotional product for Trakehner fans. They had a wristwatch framed with the elegant wood of old whisky barrels. The face is designed in the same style as the whisky label, whilst a robust mesh wrist strap emphasises the sporty character of the watch and rounds off its overall appearance.
The elegant design convinced the jury of the Promotional Gift Award in the category Custom-made Designs. The possibility of combining a watch and whisky into a high-quality set of elegant appearance went down well too. The principle can also be adapted to suit other woods. For example, the frame of the watch could be made from old wine barrels, wood from a ship, railway wagon or the interior of an old-timer, from old furniture or any desired hardwood. Hence, as well as especially for Trakehner breeders and riders, a similar wristwatch can be designed for different target groups.
