Herka is making a clear statement in favour of the responsible handling of resources with its new Undyed by Herka series that also includes Undyed terry cloth: The traditional weaving company dispenses with dyes for the series. The fabrics are neither bleached nor dyed, but instead sold in their undyed state. This corresponds to a saving of around two thirds of the energy consumption for the production process. The result is timeless products that are environmentally and skin-friendly. The undyed and natural organic products even allow sensitive skin to breathe freely.
From the very cotton spindle of raw yarn, the production of the Undyed terry cloth is processed without the use of water and chemicals in Austria, on request also using 100% GOTS-certified cotton. The packaging completely comprises of FSC-certified, semi-transparent special paper, the banderole of recycled grass paperboard. A customisation in the form of a relief weave or a tone-in-tone border weave is possible for minimum order quantities of just 40 pieces.
Furthermore, the Herka weaving company is EMAS and ISO 14001 certified, acquires its electricity from regenerative sources and developed a zero waste strategy in 2022. “That is tangible sustainability,” concluded the jury and rewarded Herka with a Promotional Gift Award in the category Communicative Products.
