In commemoration of the 300th anniversary of the city of Karlsruhe, the Dortmund-based agency, Dicke & Partner, developed the merchandising and promotional products series, KA 300. The celebrations began with a 300-day countdown and culminated in the 100 festive days leading up to the anniversary. In this early stage, the first products in the corporate design of the event were already realised. In addition to the classic merchandising products for the citizens and visitors of the city of Karlsruhe – i.e. bags, T-shirts and mugs – additional products were developed specifically for trade shows, press conferences or as guest presents and give-aways. On top of that, print materials such as stickers and posters were also produced.
On drawing up the programme things that distinguish Karlsruhe were closely integrated into the concept, including the Castle and the municipal park, the pyramids in the pedestrian zone, the founder of the city, Karl Wilhelm’s partiality for growing tulips and, of course, the local dialect. To round off the regional aspect, several of the products in the series were produced locally. Furthermore, for the tulip bulbs, cardboard stools, cotton bags and textiles, importance was placed on their certified, sustainable production. An all-round successful concept that was well thought through down to the last detail and which the jury rewarded with a Promotional Gift Award 2016 in the category Merchandising.
